Can a baby be born with teeth already? Teeth eruption chart.

It is very rare, however, sometimes babies are born already with teeth. In such cases mothers should not be frightened.

First, baby should be examined by doctor. The latter must decide, whether teeth will not interfere with meals, are not loose, whether there is no danger of swallowing. If teeth are not dangerous for baby health, they are left. Sometimes it is appropriate to remove teeth.

Is it bad if the first teeth erupt too early, during the first months?

According to medical books, the first teeth should appear in sixth month. However, if they erupt in third or fourth month, there’s nothing wrong with it. Every child is individual and cannot fit into the frame. One should worry, if a three year old child has not all 20 deciduous teeth yet. The order and time of their eruption is not so important.

Sometimes the early or late teething is caused by serious diseases. Too early teething may be caused by severe tumour diseases or hormonal problems, however, it is only exceptional cases. Too late teething may be caused by rachitis, if a child was born of large weight, etc. If a child grows healthy and develops normally, it should not be worried, if real teething differs from the standards, described in books.

6-8 months. Lower central incisors.
8-10 months. Upper central incisors.
8-12 months. Upper and lower lateral incisors.
12-16 months. Molars.
16-18 months. Canines.
20-30 months. Second pair of molars.
